African American Hair Care Tips

Simple tips for African American or afro hair types.

African-American hair is coarse, thick and prone to breakage and dryness. This is why it needs different haircare. There are a variety of products that are made especially for the needs of African American hair.

Here are some tips on how to care for your hair:

african-hairDo not wash your head very often to prevent your hair from over-drying. Try and wash it once a week. Moisturize your hair on daily basis. On a regular basis try to massage your scalp with natural oils like shea butter. Use deep conditioner treatments at least once a month. Try to use conditioners with low Ph because this will add shine and detangle your hair. Comb your hair while you still have conditioner on your hair to make it easier for you to detangle it. Comb your hair using a natural hair bristle brush. Try a boar bristle brush. Avoid putting too much heat on your hair to prevent damage. Watch what you eat. A healthy eating program means that more vitamins and protein will be accumulated in your body. Vitamins help the hair grow and remain healthy.
