How to Tease Hair

Here are some useful tips for how to tease hair, to get instant volume for short, medium or long hairstyles.

Some Facts about Teasing

howtogolighterforthespring1Back-combing is one of the several methods to give instant volume to your hair. Stylists use it also to create a base for a fabulous updo. This styling technique was amazingly popular in the 1950s and 1960s. Nowadays you can see it promoted on catwalks and red carpet. Whether your hair is short, mid-length or long you can always use back-combing to create a unique hairstyle. Achieving the perfect teasing technique depends on repeated practice. Follow the principles below to create astonishing teased hairstyles. It is better if you don't tease your hair immediately after drying. The natural oils from the surface of your scalp can effectively set your hairdo. It would be useful to skip a day without washing your hair.

Probably the most important task is to make sure that your hair is 100% dry. You know how much damage you can cause to wet hair. Furthermore let your strands cool, before you start back-combing, warm hair can be very fragile.

Detangling hair is essential in order to avoid breakage, make sure that you can easily lift your strands.

If you want to tease all your hair, separate it into smaller sections. It's up to you how large or small bulk you want, and the height also depends on personal taste. Create several layers to ease your job, start from the lowest layer and head upwards.

Take a strand lift it up, keep it straight - it is recommended to spray the roots in order to set the hairdo. Choose a rat tail comb or a gentle brush, (some stylist often opt for a toothbrush, give it a try!) start back-combing your hair from top way down to the bottom, don't hurry and avoid pulling your hair too hard. Meanwhile clip the rest of your hair, to do a clear job. Go on with the following layers until your hair is completely teased.

If you want to back-comb your bangs only, proceed as earlier but only with the preferred section.

Use hairspray to have a long lasting volume, when you finished teasing take a fine bristle brush and style your hair carefully. Tap it with your fingers to set the crown area. Use a hair setting product to define volume.

Remember it is not guaranteed that daily hair teasing won't damage your hair, use this styling technique only on special occasions. [album id=1]
