Half Up/ Half Down Hairstyles

Half up/half down hairstyles are very feminine and glamorous hairstyles. They are appropriate for formal occasions like prom, or less formal occasions if they are styled properly

Half up/ half down hairstyles are glamorous, popular and stylish hairstyles that can be styled on both medium and long hair. This type of hairstyle is appropriate for formal and special occasions. It contributes to a very feminine look revealing and emphasizing facial features. It is a great hairstyle for brides as well as for bridesmaids.

The combo of loose hair and pulled up hair is very popular among Hollywood celebrities at red carpet events and not only. If the hair is styled in a less sophisticated way it can be a good hairstyle option for casual occasions as well.

Celebrities like Eva Longoria, Lauren Conrad, Paris Hilton, Angelina Jolie, Kim Kardashian, Miley Cyrus, Beyonce are only a few of the celebrities that have been seen on the red carpet events looking fabulous with this particular hairstyle.

The loose curls that flow around the body and the hair that is pulled up to reveal and emphasize the face looks extraordinary.

To create this gorgeous look you need to:

  • wash your hair with volumizing shampoo and blow dry

  • curl the hair using a large barrel curling iron or set your hair on rollers if you wish

  • tease the hair at the roots at the crown of the head using a comb to create more volume

  • using your fingers separate the hair just above the ears and pull it towards the back like you would do with a ponytail, leaving a little bit of a bump on the crown of the head. It's best if you pull the hair back slightly oblique so your fingers go slightly upwards. That way the pulled up part won't be too low

  • secure the hair in place using bobby pins leaving only the middle part unpinned

  • after the hair is secured well take the part that is still loose, twist it around and pin it in place

  • set with hairspray and apply some shine spray for extra shiny hair
