While many people like to go to a salon to get their hair cut some people just don't like it and prefer to do it themselves. Cutting your hair is not an easy job especially if you are a beginner, but with a bit of patience, the right tool and patience you can obtain the desired haircut.

Before you go ahead and start chopping your hair off you need to make sure you have a really sharp pair of scissors. Stand in front of the mirror and decide what length you want for your hair. Make sure you remember how much you need to cut to obtain that length. When you are done you need to:

• Shampoo and condition your hair. Comb your hair straight and leave it wet. It is much easier to cut wet hair than dry hair.
• Keep your haircut simple for the start. It will be very hard for you to obtain a sophisticated haircut because you can't see very well what you are doing.
• While your hair is still damp take a comb and set it straight. A straight cut is the easiest cut you can do. Take a small section of your hair between your index and middle finger and gently go toward the ends. When you reached the length you want to achieve take the scissors and start cutting while keeping the fingers in place to hold your hair section to guide you.
• After you are done repeat the same with the rest of the hair.
• Another way you can cut your hair is by leaning over. Keeping your head down comb your wet hair and holding a section of your hair, cut through in a straight line. When you are finished cutting, lift your head up and comb it again. Part your hair and run your fingers through to check if the hair is the same length. If you find any long pieces, carefully cut them to match the overall length.
• If you have curly hair cut your hair longer than you would like your finish length to be - your curls will shorten the length when they are dry.
• When you are finished dry your hair and style it the way you desire.
